Vic: Seminars to discuss air saftey issues
MELBOURNE, April 19 AAP - Pilots, engineers and airline managers will meet in Melbourne
this week to discuss better air safety procedures.
A series of special seminars will focus on key safety issues such as the new airspace
rules, fatigue and aircraft icing.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is hosting the three-day summit to be attended
by aviation professionals from throughout Victoria.
CASA spokesman Peter Gibson said it was hoped the 10 seminars would help improve Victoria's
safety record.
"Over a decade Victoria recorded 24 fatal light aircraft crashes which is not a high
figure but it is certainly a record we need to strive to improve," Mr Gibson said.
The seminars were targeted at private and commercial pilots, as well as flying instructors.
