ROTTERDAM Joseph A. Lucarelli, founder of the sprawling Bellevue Builders Supply Co., received the green light Wednesday from the Town Board to build a king-sized hardware/home center at the intersection of Burdeck Street and Old Route 7.

Three residents spoke against a proposed zone change from multiple-family residential to retail business for the 14-acre tract.

A dozen people, many of whom are town business leaders, supported the project they said would create jobs, new sales tax revenues and an additional property tax base.
