Chicago could use another Bill Veeck.
If you're too young to remember or too new to Chicago, the late Veeck over his career bought and sold several Major League Baseball teams, including the White Sox, and was known for his wacky promotions, including once putting a dwarf up to bat during a Major League game.
More critically, Veeck looked out for the fans, wanted to win and was a man of the people.
Nothing, in short, like many of the colorless suits who own the professional teams in town today.
